Internet Safety

If your house is anything like mine, then I bet your children spend time on the Internet. The Internet is a great resource for connecting with out-of-town grandparents, updating your Webkinz information, doing school homework, and don't forget just having fun. But the Internet also brings dangers that I know we as parents want to keep from our children.
In my house, we limit computer games to only being played in the dining room. We also only allow games that we are familiar with, and wandering into other games or websites will help my children lose the privileges of being on the computer. We also make them wear headphones or turn the sound off, but that's beside the point. :)
As a family we also use X3 Watch software, which reports questionable web usage to the email account of my wife and their mother. It's just safer this way, everyone in the house needs to be accountable.
I've ran across a few sites recently that can help you as parents feel safer in having your kids on the internet. (I mean OTHER than not allowing them on it at all.) Here they are:
Microsoft's Informational page on how to set up your computer with safety controls.
I hope that as a parent you are taking the Internet security of your family seriously. If not, then get busy!
