Missions

Missions has been a priority of Trinity Church from its beginning. Trinity supports missionaries and missions projects throughout the world.


Gary Shepherd serves Wycliffe Bible Translators, a faith-based organization that studies documents and assists in developing the world’s lesser-known languages.  Wycliffe shares a Christian commitment to service, academic excellence and professional engagement through literacy, linguistic, translation and other academic disciplines. www.wycliffe.org



David Abbott continues his work in West Africa.  David and Ann are blessed to minister first hand to the people of West Africa and travel throughout that area to deliver the Good News.  A recent church evangelism effort allowed them to minister to over 800 people who showed up.  At the end, 42 people accepted Christ. Their regular updates are a witness to their calling in Africa.

Kobus Grobler is the CEO of AFMIN.  AFMIN works to equip church leaders by training primarily African church leaders, through a grassroots informal model. They, in turn, can train other untrained church leaders. The church in Africa is growing at a rate of 6 million new converts each year.  72% of all Africans are blow the age of 25. Kobus enjoys traveling into remote parts of Africa to minister and sends us updates on the amazing work God is doing.  www.afmin.org

Kent Forester is affiliated with Antioch Ministries International, a division of Antioch Community Church in Waco, TX. Antioch Ministries are involved in church planting. Kent and his family are in Uganda working to expand our understanding of other cultures and glimpse God’s heart for all His people.  

Dr. Bill Kuert serves in Nairobi, KenyaEastern Africa School of Theology trains pastors from all over Africa. Trinity helped start this seminary over 40 years ago when Trinity’s founding Pastor, Morris Sheats, and a team from Trinity traveled to Nairobi to build the first buildings. 


Norman Rideout ministers in Thailand. Norman is a second generation missionary to Thailand. His father and mother ministered there for over 40 years.  Norman takes teams into the highlands to reach the hidden tribes with the gospel. Rodney Groomer ministers through Geobound, a Christian Ministry that provides opportunities of involvement in the Global Advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  “Go into all the World and preach the good news to all creation.”  Fulfillment of Mark 16:15 is accomplished through leadership training, ministry schools, evangelistic outreaches, conferences, construction projects and orphanages. www.geobound.org

Tom Bachtle has a unique ministry in the country of Cambodia.  Tom has a burden for the Cambodian people and their desperate need for water.  Through his ministry, Tom has been able to have wells dug that bring the water.  These wells of water open up the opportunity to share the “living water” to those who partake.  Trinity has helped him dig these wells through financial gifts. Tom also serves in Sydney, Australia as an evangelist..

Don Castleberry serves through the prison ministry, Freedom in Jesus, the ministry he founded many years ago.  Don and his wife, Donna, are tireless in their efforts to reach those who are incarcerated. In 2010 the Lord allowed them to conduct service and crusades in 13 TDCJ units, completing over 80 services and four weekend crusades.  Through favor with prison authorities, thousands of books, Bible studies, Bibles, gospel pamphlets and tracks were distributed.  Volunteers gave over 5500 hours to this ministry.  They are praying for many breakthroughs in 2011. www.prisonministry.net/fijm

Vernon Odomis a long-time friend to Trinity ChurchVernon and Grace have ministered many, many years in Mexico assisting those who need medical help.  They currently reside in Lubbock but their ministry in the Mexico clinic continues through Good New Friends.

Ercel Lewis,with his son, lead a team that is reaching Mexico and Central America.  On Sunday morning, November 7, 2010 at 10:00AM on their way back from a trip to Lubbock, Ercel and David were hijacked at gunpoint. The militants stole their new vehicle and left them on foot. In spite of this incident, on December 12 the church family opened new buildings-the completion of a three year project.   Ercel stays in close contact with Trinity and has welcomed our mission teams who have gone to assist him in his ministry.

Mike McComb and his wife, Terri, are in Guatemala and are devoted to teaching the Gospel.  They opened five new study centers where 15 Pastors study.  Some walk four hours through the mountains in rubber boots (without socks) for the chance to study.  Remote locations have graduated 70 students.  Some students walk two hours and ride a bus for two hours to study. Johnny Moffitt received his start right here at Trinity Church.  From a life of destruction to a life a freedom, Johnny followed the call God had on his life and goes into Prisons with the Saving Grace of our Father.  Johnny and Betty Moffitt lead “Worldwide Voice in the Wilderness” ministry based in Dallas, Texas. www.wviw.com; www.johnnymoffitt.com


Stanley Black, an evangelist, with Hispanic International Ministries travels across Mexico leading people into salvation. He trains and equips others to be evangelists also.  Stanley is tireless in his devotion to the Mexican people.

Marvin Gilbert and his wife, Rosie, have been on furlough in the United States.  They have had great opportunities to share through their Giving the Gift Workshops.  They will be returning to Cape Town South Africa in a few months and will arrive just in time for their winter season.  Please pray for them during their transition back to South Africa where they will continue leading a training school that equips pastors with the training they need to lead local churches in their villages. They receive much needed instruction to meet the growing need for pastors all across South Africa where the Gospel is bringing a harvest.  www.agmd.org

Family Promise Center is a local outreach that provides a safe place for homeless parents and their children. People from all faiths find the Lord’s touch through this local ministry.

My Father’s House  is a local outreach that houses young women. It helps them get back on their feet following hard times and to receive the training and life skills they need to find a job.  www.myfathershouselubbock.org

Dr. Erez Soref is President of Israel College of the Bible.  Dr. Soref and his staff are passionate about the vision to equip Israeli believers for service, ministry and leadership.  Students have the opportunity to develop spiritually as well as intellectually and be able to worship in Messianic congregations.  www.israelcollege.com
